MINUTES OF THE MEETING

        1.  The meeting was called to order at 1900 hrs.  The Branch observed a Minute of Silence for fallen comrades.                    Peter remembered a comrade from 26 Fd Battery, Maurice Demery, who recently passed away.

        2.Sick Parade:          Lynn Cosgrove, wife of Cpl. Jim Cosgrove, has had a serious fall.  Josh and Marc to check and see if she needs any assistance.

        3. Gene presented the Minutes of the January meeting.

Moved by Dennis  & seconded by Marc that the minutes be adopted as read;             Carried.

 

  1. Treasurer’s Report: Gene presented the Treasurer's Report showing a total of $1,749.21 with no outstanding cheques or debts.  John presented receipts from Levee which Gene will forward on to Regiment.  Moved by Larry, seconded by George that the Treasurer's Report be accepted as presented, subject to audit.  Carried.

 

  1. As Ken is presently in the Middle East, there was no up-date on the re-naming of the highway.

 

  1. Peter reminded everyone of the Regimental Ball, 26 March, in Grand Bend.  Payment may be by debit card, paypal or cash.

 

  1. Peter felt that the idea of an Association AGM before the Regimental Ball wouldn’t work and that we should look for another date.

 

  1. George reported that the Kit Shop activity has been slow since training resumed in January.

 

  1. Peter noted that his name is being added to the Association brochure as the Sarnia contact, his reward for missing the last meeting.

 

  1. Marc is still working on the “Pennies for Cliff” project.  Everyone is requested to bring their pennies to the next meeting.  Marc recently presented the young lady with two 20 litre jars of pennies and before this donation, Autumn has raised $2,700.  She is planning a five month tour, but only two days per month, starting this spring.

      11.  The trip to Normandy in June of this year has been reasonably finalized and people are requested to get their booking forms                in as soon as possible – first come/first served.

       12. A friendly reminder to all that Wayne is still requesting pictures for his C Squadron scrapbook.

 

  1. Gene up-dated the Branch on recent donations to Peacekeeper Park and up-coming activities.

 

  1. Membership fee is now due for 2011.

 

  1. WO Park has passed on some Engineer memorabilia.  It was given to John to assess and provide a recommendation at next month’s meeting as to its destination.

 

  1. John suggested that one of our younger members volunteer to act as assistant Vice-President in order to influence and input into the operation of the Sarnia Branch.

 

  1. John asked if anyone was interested in attending the meeting in London with him a week from this Sunday.  Peter and Tom both indicated an interest.

 

  1. Bob reported that he has had RSM Ron Nutt’s picture re-mounted.  It will be re-hung in the WO and Sgt’s Mess.

 

  1. Dennis reported that one of our affiliated Cadet Corps, 2563 Petrolia, has increased to 36 Cadets on their slate.

 

  1. Next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, 10 March, 2011 at 1900 hrs.
